Attention Residents Of Fort Simpson:

As expected, the winds today produced some very active fire behavior. So active that the day shift structure protection crews are still out actioning flare ups on the hill even while the night shift has come on (this contributed to the delay in this report). While the temperatures may drop overnight, the winds likely will not. The battle to keep structures safe will continue into midday tomorrow, where winds could calm (and possibly rain? Knock on wood).

The fire was most active to the north of the community past Martin river, but the danger was still all too close. We have not received any reports of additional structure loss at this time. Stay tuned for more updates.
