July 6, 2026. | 9PM – Community Fire Update

Attention Residents Of Fort Simpson:

Work continued on fire overhaul and preparation for the coming days. The winds forecast for tomorrow is expected to bring increased fire behaviour and result in more blowdown of “Danger Trees”. Additionally, aircraft working overhead create significant downwash, toppling many numbers of trees. Anyone in the vicinity of burnt forest is at risk of trees falling at any time, which could result in injury or death.

The community is still in a state of perpetual burning, and is not expected to be safe for inhabitants for a while still. When progress is made on the overhaul of the fire at large, the timeline for re-entry will become more clear.
