Attention Residents Of Fort Simpson:

Yesterdays re-entry went relatively smoothly, more than 150 people took the provided plane ride back, just 10 fewer people than the number who flew out 3 weeks ago. One bag was lost, so please make sure you didn’t grab someone else’s bag by mistake.

Less people returned by car than anticipated, but we expect to see more today. If you are driving in remember to obey all speed limits and watch for workers on the highway.

Fort Simpson is still in a state of Evacuation Alert. We feel this is appropriate at this time, as while the firefighting crews have moved further out from the residential areas, there is still a lot of work being done in and around the community. Additionally, the smoke from the fire, the road closures, and hazardous burnt areas mean that we are certainly not back to normal yet. Hopefully if the fire remediation work progresses well, we can remove the evacuation alert sooner rather than later.

Finally, we are reminding residents in the community to please follow all rules regarding animals. Dogs should not be off leash and wandering around, or left behind for others to take care of.
