Attention Residents Of Fort Simpson:
Happy Friday all, another smokey day in Fort Simpson. Workers are removing trees, creating dozer lines, patrolling all over the place. For some reason the blackflies are apocalyptically bad here now, we sympathize with all the folks out on the line who have to deal with that all day, and thank them for their sacrifice. The continued efforts are working, and will pay off soon.
While it is not quite time for everyone to come home, the first thing everyone will want to do when they get back is drive around and look at stuff. We don’t blame you because a lot has changed, but please be aware of some safety hazards:
-Workers and equipment on the roads
-Aircraft overhead
-Damaged trees that can fall at any time
-Do not walk or drive through any of the burnt areas of the bush, due to hotspots and ash pits
-The dump is off limits to the public due to a health hazard
-Drum circle road and area is closed to the public until the Wildfire Camp has been shut down
-Wildfire is still very active near the highways to the north and south of the community, travel at your own risk
Please keep these facts in mind, and we hope to see you around the Village in the future.
Mahsi Cho, Thanks,
-Village Incident Command
