July 12, 2026. | 5PM – Community Fire Update

Attention Residents Of Fort Simpson:

Remediation work continues around the community. Due to the underlying drought conditions, fire has been able to dig very deep down into the soil and roots of the affected area. The result is very deep ash pits which present a significant hazard to firefighters and civilians alike. Anyone in the community should not enter the burnt area due to this and other hazards like hotspots and danger trees.

Flare ups continue to occur, and the hot weather over the next few days will certainly show more. With so many firefighters working hard, we hope to see meaningful progress on fire containment over the coming days. Stay tuned for updates.
