Community Briefing of Regular Council Meeting on October 3rd, 2016

Below are a few highlights of the Regular Council Meeting (RM19-2016) on Monday October 3rd, 2016.

-A motion was passed that Council approves the 2016 Small Communities Fund Application for the Recreation Centre Upgrades Project.  And that Council commits this project into the 2017 Five (5) Year Capital Plan before December 31st, 2016.

-A motion was passed that the Village of Fort Simpson apply to the Arctic Energy Alliance Enery Retrofit Programs for Community Government Buildings, with EMO's outlined in the Trageted Energy and Yardstick Audits, prioritizing projects indentified with the highest payback in the shortest amount of time.

-A motion was that Council supports the monitoring wells project that will be carried out by the Government of the Northwest Territories, Municipal and Community Affairs.

-A motion was passed that the Village of Fort Simpson hold a fall 2016 Large Item Pick-up for residential household items only.  And that landfill tipping fees be waived, with the approval of the Acting SAO.

-A motion was passed that Council of the Village of Fort Simpson use Municipal World, Northern News Services including the Drum to advertise the SAO position.

-A motion was passed that Council authorize Benjamin Coffie, Finance Manager, to hold signing authority for the Village of Fort Simpson on behalf of the Municipal Council and that Beth Jumbo be removed from signing authority.

-A motion was passed that Council approves Diane McIntosh to attend the NWT Literacy Council Family Literacy Training in Yellowknife from November 21st to November 24th, 2016, should NWT Literacy Council not be providing the cost to travel the Village of Fort Simpson will cover all expenses.

-A motion was tabled that the Village of Fort Simpson advertise for engineering services for the Antoine Drive Water, Sewer Road Enhancements Project.

-A motion was passed that Council extend the Administrative Assistant temporary term contract from September 2, 2016 to December 9, 2016.
